Extractions
We make every effort to preserve your natural teeth. However, extractions are necessary when decay has made the tooth unsalvageable or when you have an advanced periodontal disease. In some cases the oral surgeon will recommend full sedation – especially if there will be more than one tooth extracted during the procedure. In this case, the patient is given anesthesia intravenously to prevent pain throughout the entire body. Patients who undergo a sedated tooth extraction will have no memory of the procedure.
Intravenous Sedation
Intravenous Sedation is a safe and comfortable way to sleep through your oral surgery procedure. We use the minimal amount of medication possible to make your visit pleasant and pain-free!
As dentists, our greatest desire is for you to maintain your own healthy natural teeth. However, circumstances sometimes change. Because of genetics, infection, trauma, or aesthetic concerns, teeth may need to be replaced. Dental implants are quite predictable as a tooth replacement option and very successful.
When compared to fixed bridges and removable dentures, implants offer numerous advantages. Better esthetics: Since implants are placed in the gum similar to the way a natural tooth is supported, they offer a more realistic and natural look compared to other alternatives. Reduction of bone resorption: When a tooth is lost, the supporting bone structure gradually recedes. Placing an implant in that empty space significantly reduces the speed of bone resorption and provides stability for this valuable tissue. Retention: Patients who have experienced dentures know that keeping their dentures in place is always a challenge. Dental implants offer a great improvement to denture retention for all patients.
